New Term, New Course.

I read somewhere that the only way to make a blog successful is to have a frequently updated site with interesting articles and pictures. Well I guess I have to try harder. I have some nice pictures and some good stories but it seems never the time to sit down and write.
So here we go.....

A lot has happened since last term. I finished the FEC course and nutrition and a wine class all with 3.46gpa. Went to a nice graduation with an even better party afterward.
After graduation I went to Greece with a couple of my good friends here at school one of them a local Greek from the island of Rhodes. We stayed on the Island of Rhodes for 7 days enjoying the 92 degree beautiful weather in September. We saw a lot of ancient artifacts and historical sites, temples of ancient Greek gods. We also enjoyed the beaches with the crystal clear blue water. We took part in the lively nightlife that only started around 11 at night sometimes even later. After what seemed only a day we had to leave. Back to Vitznau, Switzerland and school.

So the new term was about to begin and I got my class assignment.
I was slightly disappointed because I was in the pastry course. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against the Pastry I just had a plan in my mind of going from hot kitchen class straight to hot kitchen class and then finish of my stay at DCT with pastry.

Well now its midterms of the pastry course and things are going well. Pastry is science in the mixture and pure art and creation in the presentation. So far we have done A LOT. We started with puff pastry and sweet yeast doughs. The next week was doughs and breads. Week three was cremes and fillings. Week 4 was Choux paste and Cake sponge and a cake buffet with 15 different cakes. Week 5 was cookies and sweet paste all followed by a cookie buffet at the end of the week. Now we are finishing week six and we have just started dessert plates and all kinds of different desserts.

I hope that this blog was informational and slightly entertaining.
Maybe check back in 2 weeks or so and i will post a small update. Maybe

Stress and Midterms

Well I obviously haven't updated in a while so I thought the time was right. Things are going great here in Vitznau. I finished my midterms with passing grades! I am about to start week 7 of an 11 week term so I am close to being done with Foundation to European Cuisine. Next term its going to be European Gourmet Cuisine which i am nervously excited about. Life in Vitznau rotates around school school homework and more school but with so much information in such a little amount of time one hardly notices the time pass. Another update will be coming next sunday!

Packing Up!

Leaving for 18 months is easy.
That is if packing and also storing all your crap has nothing to do with it. I have been trying to decide how much to bring and I think I have a semi-finalized list in my brain.
-A good book I will probably bring Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain
-Some clothes
-A camera
-Maybe some warm clothes
-A pair or two of shoes
Obviously the list needs some "How You Say" fine tuning,
but you try and pack for a 18 month long trip.
